Jade was an R&B group active during the early to mid 1990s. The group consisted of Tonya Kelly, Joi Marshall, and Di Reed. During their brief yet successful career, Jade released two studio albums, one live album, and a string of popular R&B singles. Jade has not released any albums since 1994. Former member Joi Marshall continues to sing as an independent gospel artist and released an album, Testimony and Praise, on September 25, 2007. She also wrote the book Answers to the 20 Most Asked Questions about the Music Business in 2004. Rod Stewart hand picked Di Reed to sing backup for his 2008 world tour.

greatestSince it is Mother’s Day today why not have a video that reflects that special woman in your life. Dear Mama is the first single off TuPac‘s “Me Against the World” circa 1995. 

Factoid: The “Dear Mama” music video was directed by Calvin Caday while TuPac was incarcerated; thus, a Tupac look-alike had to be used for certain moments in the video.

Off Company Flow‘s debut album “Funcrusher“.
Company Flow was an underground hip hop group from Brooklyn, New York City. The line up featured El-P rapper/producer and DJ/producer Mr. Len founded the group in 1992 in Queens, New York and rapper/producer Bigg Jus later joined.

Jazzmatazz Vol. 1 is a jazz rap album by Guru, released on May 18th, 1993. This album is one of the first albums to combine a live jazz band with hip hop production and rapping. It is the first such project to feature established rappers.

Trust Me” contains samples of “Funky President” by James Brown.

The single “Trust Me” peaked at #50 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Singles & Tracks chart. In spite of the lagging American sales, Jazzmatazz Vol. 1 was a commercial success in Europe, where jazz was much more popular in the 1990′s.

Off his debut album “At the Speed of Life“. The track became the rapper’s breakout single, and is often seen as his signature song. The track was produced by Thayod Ausar, who provides a classical sample from Gabriel Fauré‘s “Pavane“.

Ice Cube originally recorded a demo of the track in his home studio and went on to record the album version in Los Angeles at Echo Sound Studios during 1992, and it was one of the first ideas for the album sessions.
